Update on the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics

The 2018 Winter Olympics kicked off in Pyeongchang, South Korea, this month. So far Americans have won eight gold medals: Mikaela Shiffrin in alpine skiing, Shaun White in the men’s halfpipe, Chloe Kim in the women’s halfpipe, Jamie Anderson in women’s snowboard, Red Gerard in men’s snowboarding, Jessica Diggins and Kikkan Randall in cross-country skiing, and the women’s ice hockey team, who beat Canada in the final shootout.
Kim and Gerard are among the youngest gold medalists at age 17, and White made history at age 31 by winning three halfpipe medals for the first time in Olympics history.
Currently Norway has the most total Olympic medals with 34, followed by Germany in second with 25 medals, Canada takes third with 24, the United States are in fourth currently with 21 medals, and the Netherlands round out the top five with 17.
