Man Suspects Scam; Receives $3,500

A local man who suspected he might have been the target of a scam ended up with cash.

According to a Chillicothe Police report, the 70-year-old man contacted authorities about a suspicious call on March 5th. According to police, the man received a call from a person who allegedly worked for IYogi.

Police stated the caller instructed the man to log into his bank account using his computer. The caller supposedly deposited $3,500 into the man’s account, instructed him to buy Walmart gift cards with the money, and to report the card numbers back to the caller, the report indicated.

According to the report, the man did not comply and notified his bank about the incident.
