According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ashton Junk, 19, of Chillicothe, was the fatal victim in the early morning accident on January 17th.
Officials say Junk was driving on Veterans Parkway when she overcorrected on the snowy road while trying to avoid a collision with Mitchell Vanmeter, 63. Vanmeter collided with Junk's car in a ditch when he swerved off of the right side of the road to avoid Junk's car, authorities said. Both were transported to the Adena Regional Medical Center where Junk succumbed to her injuries. Vanmeter had sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Following her death, Junk's friends and family took to social media to express their grief. A GoFundMe page was arranged to raise money for the affected family. Her funeral will be held at Haller Funeral Home at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 23rd.
